Job summary

City of Springfield is seeking a Labor Service employee to join the civil service team, responsible for refuse collection from roll out containers and operating a semi-automated refuse vehicle in daily routes.

The role requires a high school diploma and at least one year of driving large vehicles; duties include loading, route adherence, paperwork, and professional interaction with residents, under supervision of Public Works.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of experience driving large vehicles on city streets.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to interact with residents professionally to resolve issues.

Responsibilities

• Operates the semi-automated refuse collection vehicle.
• Collects refuse from roll out containers and positions containers as needed.
• Loads refuse into the truck using the semi-automated flipper and ensures proper loading.
• Transports loaded vehicle to the designated disposal site and resumes route as required.
• Performs routine vehicle maintenance checks and keeps simple daily records.
• Performs other related duties as required.
