Job summary

Tyndall National Institute is Ireland’s leading research and innovation centre in semiconductors, photonics and deep‑tech. We seek a Research Engagement Officer to co‑ordinate, develop and deliver public engagement and outreach across national and European levels, engaging researchers and external partners.

You will work with cross‑disciplinary teams, manage events, track impact, and pursue funding to sustain activities. Immediate start available with vetting requirements.

Qualifications

• Degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics.
• 3+ years experience communicating science with the public.
• Networking, relationship building and motivating others.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Excellent project management experience.
• Experience applying for funding for EPE and/or Citizen Science programmes.
• Able to work flexibly, independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, organise and participate in a wide range of activities locally, nationally and internationally.
• Plan, develop and implement public engagement, outreach and engagement programmes.
• Collaborate with Education & Public Engagement Officers and other staff.
• Engage researchers to participate in planned activities.
• Keep records and KPI indicators of engagement activities.
• Evaluate impact and report on programme objectives and results.
• Prepare reports and presentations on strategy and impact.
• Ensure compliance with Quality Management Systems, Health & Safety and other regulations.
• Develop partnerships with outreach providers and external stakeholders.
• Pursue funding opportunities and collaborations to sustain programmes.
