Job summary

Tyndall National Institute in Cork seeks a Research Engagement Officer to coordinate and deliver education and public engagement initiatives across local, national and European levels. The role involves working with researchers, schools and communities to translate research outcomes into engaging activities.

The successful candidate will have a science/engineering degree, strong communication and project-management skills, and a track record in public engagement and funding applications.

Qualifications

• Degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics, preferably in areas relevant to Tyndall.
• 3+ years of experience communicating science with the public.
• Significant experience in networking, building relationships and motivating others.
• Excellent communications skills.
• Excellent project management skills, including running events and aligning with strategies.
• Experience in applying for funding to run EPE and/or Citizen Science programmes.
• Demonstrated ability to work flexibly, create independent initiatives, and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement engagement programmes of strategic importance to Tyndall using Logic models.
• Plan and deliver public engagement, engaged research, outreach and curriculum-focused activities.
• Collaborate with Education & Public Engagement Officers and related staff across centres and teams.
• Motivate researchers to participate in planned activities and collect impact indicators.
• Prepare reports and presentations on programme objectives, performance and impact.
• Coordinate with People & Culture, Marketing, Safety and Facilitates to ensure compliance for events.
• Develop partnerships with outreach providers locally, nationally and in Europe.
• Pursue funding opportunities and collaborations to grow activities and reach new audiences.
