Job summary

Alstom Cork is seeking a Scheme Project Manager to join our team delivering signalling works on railway infrastructure. You will support the Project Manager in managing the programme and resources to deliver works on time, within budget, and safely, on-site in Cork.

The role emphasizes coordinating subcontractors, managing costs, risks, and reporting progress while maintaining a strong delivery culture and compliance with industry contracts.

Qualifications

• Experience working for a main contractor, consultant or client organisation in railway/construction/engineering.
• Knowledge of Health, Safety & Environmental requirements, including CDM 2015.
• Understanding of quantified risk assessments.
• Understanding of scheduling/planning principles.
• Knowledge of the duties of a Principal Contractor in rail/construction/engineering.
• Comprehension of management systems.
• Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Support our Project Manager by delivering significant elements of the contracted works in line with client and internal requirements.
• Manage small or lower complexity projects or parts of larger projects.
• Control costs, risks and opportunities to ensure delivery in line with expectations.
• Provide clear reports on status of project deliverables as per the Project Management Plan.
• Identify resource requirements and build programmes with planning colleagues.
• Liaise with subcontractors and ensure progress reporting and risk communication.
• Represent Alstom at client and supplier meetings and support presentations.
• Produce accurate written reports internally and to the client.
• Maintain a strong delivery culture and project integrity.
• Ensure Project Risk Management process is maintained.
• Understand standard industry contract conditions and key variations.
• Accurately track all deliverables through to project close out.

Purpose of the role:

Alstom UK&I D&IS have an exciting opportunity to join our team based in Cork, delivering signalling works on the railway infrastructure. As a Scheme Project Manager, you will play a key role supporting our Project Manager or Lead Project Manager in managing the project programme and resources to deliver the planned works within budget, safely and within set timescales.

We’ll look to for:

• Support our Project Manager or Lead Project Manager by managing and delivering significant elements of the contracted works in line with both client and internal requirements.
• Manage small / lower complexity projects or parts of larger or more complex projects
• Manage and control costs, risks and opportunities associated with your remit, to ensure your remit is delivered in line with business expectations.
• Provide clear and precise reports on the status of project deliverables in line with the Project Management Plan.
• Identify resource requirements and work with your planning colleagues to build programmes including people, plant, materials and subcontractors' activities.
• Liaise with and project manage subcontractors, ensuring they are reporting their progress against programme and communicating issues and risks regularly
• Represent Alstom at regular client and supplier meetings, and support colleagues in presenting to the client
• Produce accurate and concise written reports internally and to the client.
• Maintain a strong delivery culture.
• Ensure the Project Risk Management process is regularly and accurately maintained.
• Understand standard industry contract conditions, contractual requirements and be able to identify key variations.
• Accurately track all deliverables through to a successful project close out.
