Job summary

Village Vets Dundrum in Dublin is seeking a qualified RVN to join our modern 24-hour hospital. You will provide continuous nursing care, support veterinarians during emergency procedures, and perform essential medical tasks for a varied caseload in GP and ECC settings.

We welcome nurses with 5+ years’ small animal experience, strong clinical skills, and excellent communication. Flexible shifts and a friendly, collaborative team environment are on offer.

Qualifications

• Qualified and VCI registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN).
• Ideally 5+ years’ experience in small animal practice.
• Strong clinical skills, resilience and compassion.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous, attentive nursing care to critically ill or injured patients, monitoring vital signs and pain levels.
• Support veterinarians during emergency procedures, including triage, resuscitation, wound management, and surgery.
• Carry out essential medical procedures such as placing IV catheters, administering medications and fluids, and performing diagnostic tests.
• Assist with anaesthesia induction, monitoring, and post-operative recovery for critical patients.
• Maintain strict infection control standards and ensure a clean, sterile environment.
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners, providing updates and guidance on treatment and aftercare.
• Keep detailed, accurate medical records and provide thorough handovers between shifts.
