Qualifications

Risk Consulting Assistant Manager - Public Sector & Not-For-Profit

A leading business advisory and accountancy firm is looking to recruit an Assistant Manager into its growing Risk Consulting practice. The team provides governance, internal audit and risk advisory services to a range of Government bodies, local authorities and large not for profit organisations, and this role puts you at the centre of that work, leading the delivery of Risk Consulting and Internal Audit assignments through to draft report stage.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the delivery of risk based audit assignments, ranging from complex and ad hoc work to more routine engagements.
• Gather robust information from client systems and through interviews with key staff, then analyse it to judge the adequacy of internal controls.
• Help develop high quality audit reports that include a clear opinion and practical recommendations, backed by solid supporting rationale.
• Plan your own workload effectively, keeping tasks on track for quality and timescale.
• Build strong working relationships with client staff across both financial and non-financial disciplines.
• Lead effective discussions with finance and non-finance staff on the delivery of audit assignments.
• Keep Partners and the management team briefed on significant issues and any performance concerns.
• Deliver assignments to a high standard, in line with Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors standards and within agreed timescales and resourcing.
• Understand the authority levels of your role and those of key stakeholders, ensuring compliance with firm policy throughout.
• Support the day to day supervision, training and mentoring of junior staff on assignments.
• Contribute to business development activity, including proposals, sales presentations and networking.

About you

• Qualified as a Chartered Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor or equivalent.
• At least two years post qualification experience.
• A minimum of four years in Risk Consulting or Internal Audit work, gained in public practice in Ireland or the UK.
• Strong understanding of internal audit and risk management methods, with awareness of current issues in the space.
• Extensive experience of internal audit work with Government Departments, State Bodies or not for profit organisations. Experience with regulated Financial Services entities is an advantage.
• Proven ability to work well in a highly qualified, team oriented environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and assignments at once.
