Job summary

Blue Forge Recruitment has partnered with a progressive local supermarket group operating across Connacht. The role is based in northwest Galway, in a busy butcher department, requiring standing for long hours and delivering excellent customer service.

You will prepare and cut beef, pork, poultry and seafood to customer specifications, maintain HACCP standards, manage inventory, and assist shoppers with recommendations.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience as a butcher in retail or supermarket.
• Knowledge of different cuts of meat and their preparation methods.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cut various meat products (beef, pork, poultry, seafood) per customer preferences.
• Ensure meat products are high quality, properly trimmed and defect-free.
• Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean, safe workplace.
• Assist customers with meat selections and cooking method recommendations.
• Package and label meat products for display and sale.
• Maintain knowledge of market trends and adjust offerings.
