Scope and General Purpose of the Job

To ensure that all guests are greeted with a friendly welcome and offered the highest standards of guest care and customer satisfaction in line with the Departmental SOP Manual.

Duties
  • To attend to the needs of all guests maintaining a high standard of service and ensuring company standard operating procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • To supervise restaurant staff ensuring staff are happy/ competent in their work, and making sure any problems are dealt with in a compassionate and professional manner.
  • To acquire a full knowledge of all food & beverage policies and procedures in accordance with restaurant/room service standards.
  • To learn, understand and know all of the menus on offer so that all guests' questions can be answered without delay.
  • To ensure that all our guest's special needs i.e. dietary requirements, allergies, etc are made known to the chef and the restaurant manager.
  • To take food orders from customers and passing orders through to kitchen immediately.
  • To become familiar with the type of wines served. Therefore ensuring that wine is offered when taking a food order and the up‑selling technique is used at all times.
  • To ensure timely delivery of all food & beverage items to customers in the restaurant/room service.
  • To ensure that tables are cleared of all used plates, cutlery and glasses and brought to the dish wash area.
  • To inform the restaurant manager/assistant manager of any difficulties or delays with service as soon as they occur during service.
  • To maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Make best efforts to learn the names and personally recognise the regular customers.
  • To ensure all cashiering policies and procedures are followed at all times, and ensuring that staff are aware that cash discrepancies are neither accepted nor tolerated.
  • To ensure each till has sufficient cash for change, and providing cash as and when required.
  • To ensure that all payments are handled with care so as to avoid shortages.
  • To complete end of shift cash up sheets and make sure any variances are explained.
  • To ensure all possible controls are in place to deter cash or stock losses.
Health and Safety
  • To be aware of and adhere to all Health, Fire and Safety Procedures and to remain vigilant to possible risks and ensure that anything of a suspicious nature is reported to management.
Miscellaneous
  • Maintain high level of standards, personal hygiene, uniform, appearance and conduct.
  • Attend all meetings and training courses requested by your Departmental Manager or Human Resources and Quality Officer.
  • Continuously seek to improve the department's efficient operation and standards.
  • Be fully conversant with the sales function within your department and take every opportunity to optimise sales.
  • Assist with observing security measures for the hotel and report anything suspicious.
  • Pass on all lost property to the Accommodation Department.
  • Ensure all maintenance needs are reported to the Maintenance Coordinator/Duty Manager.
Occasional Duties
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by a member of the management team.
  • Attend meetings.
  • Attend and ensure team attendance at Hotel training.
  • Support a positive workplace culture that benefits both team members and guests.
