Job summary

Signacare Nursing Home in New Ross, Co. Wexford, is seeking a Social Care Lead to coordinate the social, emotional and recreational activities for residents.

You will design and deliver meaningful activities, working closely with residents, families and the multidisciplinary team to promote wellbeing and quality of life. This full-time role requires a caring, proactive leader with excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the social care and activities programme within the home.
  • Develop a varied programme of meaningful activities that promotes residents' independence, choice, wellbeing and quality of life.
  • Ensure activities are person-centred, taking account of residents' individual interests, abilities, backgrounds and preferences.
  • Encourage resident participation and identify opportunities for residents to maintain existing hobbies and interests or develop new ones.
  • Organise group and individual activities, including social events, entertainment, outings and seasonal celebrations.
  • Work closely with residents, families and the wider multidisciplinary team to identify opportunities to enhance residents' social wellbeing.
  • Encourage meaningful interaction and companionship among residents.
  • Support and coordinate staff and volunteers involved in activities within the home.
  • Maintain appropriate records of activities and resident participation.
  • Liaise with external groups, entertainers and community organisations where appropriate.
  • Ensure activities are delivered safely and in line with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive culture where every resident has opportunities to participate and feel valued.
  • Lead by example and promote our CARA Values (Caring, Ambitious, Responsive, Accountability) in all interactions with residents, families and colleagues.
