Job description

Mechanical, Electrical & Combined Resident Engineers
Location: North County Dublin, Ireland ONLY
Join Us in Shaping the Future of Energy Infrastructure

We are seeking experienced Mechanical Resident Engineers, Electrical Resident Engineers, and Combined Mechanical/Electrical Resident Engineers to support the delivery of a major multidisciplinary energy project in North County Dublin.

This is an excellent opportunity for technically strong, site-focused engineers to play a key role in overseeing the installation, testing and commissioning of complex mechanical and electrical systems, including gas turbine-related equipment, electrical infrastructure, control systems, fire systems, lighting, CCTV and associated utilities.

Purpose & Scope of the Role

As a Resident Engineer, you will provide on-site construction oversight throughout the delivery of the project, ensuring that the works are completed in accordance with the approved design, contract requirements, planning conditions, programme, quality standards and statutory obligations. The roles will support the project over an anticipated 12–18-month period, with appointments available for Mechanical Resident Engineers, Electrical Resident Engineers and Combined Mechanical/Electrical Resident Engineers. You will work closely with contractors, the design team, utility providers and client representatives to monitor progress, manage technical interfaces and support the successful completion and handover of the works.

Your Impact in This Position

Your expertise will help ensure that a complex energy project is delivered safely, efficiently and to the required technical and quality standards. You will provide continuous site-based oversight of mechanical and electrical installation activities, monitor the installation of major plant, infrastructure and building services systems, and review contractor submittals, RFIs, inspection records, testing documentation and commissioning records. You will coordinate with multiple project stakeholders to resolve technical issues and manage interfaces effectively, witness testing, pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, track progress and identify potential programme, quality, safety and compliance risks. You will also maintain accurate site records, inspection reports and progress reports, identify and elevate deviations, delays and risks at the earliest opportunity, support snagging, completion, close‑out and handover activities, and promote high standards of professionalism, communication, health and safety awareness and stakeholder coordination.

Core Capabilities
Site-Based Construction Oversight

Demonstrable ability to monitor construction, installation and completion activities on complex mechanical, electrical or multidisciplinary projects. You will be confident inspecting works, verifying progress and ensuring delivery aligns with the approved design and contract requirements.

Technical Review & Quality Assurance

Strong capability in reviewing contractor submissions, RFIs, inspection records, quality documentation and commissioning information. You will be attentive to detail and able to identify non-conformances, deviations and potential technical risks.

Testing, Commissioning & Handover

Experience supporting or witnessing testing, pre-commissioning and commissioning activities. You will contribute to effective snagging, close‑out and handover, ensuring that the required documentation and records are complete and accurate.

Project Coordination & Interface Management

Ability to coordinate effectively with contractors, designers, utility providers, client representatives and other project stakeholders. You will help resolve technical issues and manage complex interfaces across a large multidisciplinary project.

Progress Monitoring, Reporting & Risk Management

Strong organisational and reporting skills, with the ability to monitor programme and progress, maintain reliable site records, report on quality and compliance matters, and elevate risks or delays promptly.

  • Relevant qualification as a Mechanical Engineer or Electrical Engineer.
  • Relevant construction site experience.
  • Proven experience working on large-scale industrial, infrastructure, energy or power projects.
  • Experience with site inspections, construction coordination and contract administration.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance processes and construction documentation.
  • Experience supporting or monitoring testing, commissioning or pre-commissioning activities.
  • Strong communication, organisational and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work proactively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to manage complex technical and stakeholder interfaces.
Desirable
  • Experience on major energy or power generation projects.

  • Professional registration or chartered status, where applicable.
Working Environment

This is a predominantly site-based role located on a major energy project in North County Dublin, with an anticipated project duration of 12–18 months. The role will require regular presence on site to oversee installation, testing, commissioning and completion activities, with working patterns aligned to project requirements and construction programme needs. Due to the nature of the position, routine remote working is not expected; however, limited flexibility for administrative or reporting tasks may be available where project requirements permit. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with contractors, the design team, client representatives, utility providers and other stakeholders in a busy, multidisciplinary construction environment.

Please note that visa or work permit sponsorship cannot be provided for this role. Applicants must have current authorization to work in Ireland. This position is located in Dublin and is not available in other locations.
