Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Resident Engineer for an Active Travel scheme in Co. Meath. The role is site-focused, supervising construction activities and administering contracts under supervision of a Senior Resident Engineer.

A Level 8 Civil Engineering degree is required, with 4+ years in civil engineering and 2+ years on-site experience. Desirable candidates will be Chartered or working towards it, with AutoCAD and MS Office proficiency, good English communication, and a valid driving licence

• Valid driving licence and SafePass.

Job description

Overview

We are seeking Resident Engineer for an Active Travel scheme in Co. Meath, from July/August, for approximately 6 months, with scope for future roles thereafter.

The ideal candidate will have relevant years of experience in roads/transport infrastructure. The candidate should be self-motivated, enthusiastic, hardworking, flexible, willing to take responsibility and comfortable working with others in a team.

Your role

The role will involve site-based supervision, contract administration, stakeholder and client liaison, reporting, monitoring and inspection of construction activities; in tandem with a Senior Resident Engineer.

About you

Desirable skills

• Level 8 Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer or working towards this.
• A minimum of 4 years relevant experience in the civil engineering industry, including 2 years construction phase involvement in the supervision & administration of Public Works Contract for Civil Engineering Works.
• Computer literate and with experience of relevant software (AutoCAD or similar) and Microsoft Office programmes.
• Experience in administering contracts using the Public Works form of contracts; including processing of Valuations, and assessment of Claims.
• Experience in supervising and inspecting the construction of roadworks including pavement, drainage, structures, ducting, signage, lighting, etc.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Experience in record keeping and reporting on Contractor's progress.
• Ability to work within a team and also work independently and under own initiative to achieve project goals.
• Knowledge of current H&S regulations and best practices.
• Full driving licence and a valid SafePass.
