Job summary

Fastnet is seeking a Research Coordinator (Projects and Partnerships) to join a cancer research charity in Cork. This 12-month contract role involves coordinating grant programmes, building host institution relationships, and supporting workshops and hosted conferences.

You will lead public involvement in research, train PPI contributors, and help develop education materials with fundraisers and communications teams. Strong project management and scientific communication skills are required.

Qualifications

  • PhD in health-based research or MSc with strong research background.
  • Good knowledge of the cancer research landscape.
  • Experience with Public Patient Involvement in research.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Experience in scientific communication to a variety of audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support all activities including review and administration, relating to grant programmes where they are a whole or co-funder.
  • Identify co-funding research opportunities and action in agreement with line manager.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with host academic institutions, grant holders - including scientists and clinicians, and other healthcare professionals and other funding bodies.
  • Support the organisation of workshops, symposia, meetings and hosted conferences.
  • Work with the research team to continue to build Person and Public Involvement (PPI) capacity through training a network of PPI contributors who are people with lived experience / family members / supporters.
  • Continue to develop local networks of PPI contributors and support the develop ‘PPI ambassadors’.
  • Co-produce and co-deliver research training for people with lived experience / family members / supporters to become involved in PPI at all levels: from one-off consultation and engagements to becoming peer researchers;
  • Identify and deliver training for service providers and researchers in PPI is and how to engage effectively;
  • Work alongside fundraisers to develop educational materials relating to research.
  • Support Communications team for website/materials content.
  • Produce accessible summaries of their research and convey the value of research to a lay audience.
  • Assist in analysing and reporting the outputs, outcomes and impact of research funded by the charity.

We're working with a proactive and driven cancer research charity and funder of patient focused research to hire a Research Coordinator to join their team!

Responsibilities include:
  • Coordinate and support all activities including review and administration, relating to grant programmes where they are a whole or co-funder.

Qualification and Experience:
  • Educated to PhD level in health-based research. An MSc level may be considered based on research experience.
  • Good knowledge of the Cancer Research Landscape.

  • Experience in scientific communication to a variety of audiences
