Applications are invited for a temporary part-time (0.8 FTE) post of a Research Assistant within UCD School of Medicine.
BAMBI (Biomarkers for Acute Mild Brain Injury) is a prospective, single-centre, observational study in the Emergency Department at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, Dublin. It will evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of blood biomarkers (UCH-L1, GFAP, and S100B) measured within 12 hours of injury to predict CT-positive traumatic intracranial injuries in adults with suspected mild traumatic brain injury (GCS 13-15). The study aims to support safer, more efficient imaging decisions and to develop a multidisciplinary protocol for the pre- and in-hospital management of mild TBI.
The Research Assistant will support delivery of the BAMBI Study in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital Emergency Department (MMUH ED), working closely with the ED team, and the wider TBI research group (Dr Paula O'Shea and Prof Philip O'Halloran). The role includes day-to-day coordination of study activities, informed consent processes, high-quality data collection, coordination of blood sample handling and processing with the MMUH laboratory, support for regulatory compliance, and contribution to reporting and dissemination.
Salary Range:€34,129 - €36,272 Per Annum Pro Rata @ 0.8FTE
Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
