Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Research Assistant - Neural Engineering within UCD School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

The Neuromuscular Systems Lab is made up of research staff and students who bring a diverse and complementary range of skills and expertise to addressing research questions in the area of motor control. Our research involves the application of engineering principles, in particular mathematical modelling and signal processing, to understand how the nervous system controls muscle in healthy and diseased states. Through this research we aim to address fundamental questions in the control of human movement and to develop improved therapeutic and rehabilitation strategies.

The position will involve supporting and contributing to the project "Closed-loop deep brain stimulation (DBS) for Parkinson's disease". The role will involve development of finite element and neural models of DBS and recording and analysing electromyographic EMG and speech data, assisting with experimental studies and providing general technical and engineering support to the research group.

Successful candidates will have strong analytical and computational modelling skills in addition to being able to work with patients and with industry and clinical collaborators.

Research Assistant Salary Scale: €34,129 - €44,311 Per Annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
