Job summary

ESB Networks is seeking a Contractor Category buyer to join the Networks Procurement EPC, Civils and Electrical Contractor team. This role focuses on delivering best value in materials, services and works while upholding ethics, safety, environment and sustainability standards across ESB procurement activities.

The contractor will collaborate with ESB Networks and EMP to secure value for money, ensure compliance with EU directives and internal procedures, and support the category strategy

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years relevant work experience.
• 3rd Level relevant qualification or Procurement qualification or equivalent work experience.
• High level of procurement expertise.
• Good working knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
• A high level of commitment, commercial acumen, excellent interpersonal skills and reporting skills.
• A proven track record of successfully delivering procurement processes.
• Proven ability to work to deadlines as a member of a team and on own initiative.
• Demonstrates a strong work ethic. A full Driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Conduct end to end tender processes in accordance with ESB procurement procedures and statutory regulations.
• Work closely with business managers within ESB Networks to define their requirements and identify appropriate procurement strategies.
• Develop an understanding and expertise in the categories of spend under their responsibility.
• Support their category manager in developing the category strategy/plan, including identification of opportunities for continuous improvement including identification of spend aggregation and value creation opportunities.
• Monitor and reporting on spend against Frameworks contracts.
• Investigate supplier over-dependency, proprietary purchases and propose measures to address.
