Job summary

Partner company in Ireland is seeking a Backend Developer (Java/Spring Boot) to join a fully remote product team. You will build, test, and deploy backend services, APIs, and data layers with PostgreSQL using Hibernate/JPA, while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a distributed setup.

You will own features end-to-end from implementation through testing and release, with emphasis on clean code and strong collaboration.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Experience with Java 21 is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot.
• Practical experience with Hibernate/JPA and ORM persistence.
• Good knowledge of PostgreSQL and SQL performance.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs.
• Automated backend testing experience.
• Familiarity with Git and code reviews.
• Experience with microservices and distributed systems.
• Cloud experience (AWS) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build secure REST APIs for frontend and other systems.
• Design and maintain PostgreSQL schemas and data models.
• Implement and maintain microservices within distributed architectures.
• Integrate third-party and internal backend services.
• Ensure data accuracy and handle edge cases.
• Write automated tests and collaborate with QA.
• Own backend features from implementation to release.
• Collaborate with frontend, QA, DevOps, and product teams.
• Participate in code reviews and improve engineering practices.
