Lever, Inc. is seeking an AI Harness Engineer based in Ireland to build tools and systems that connect people with local AI capabilities. You will work across AI tooling, agent infrastructure, and peer-to-peer tech, delivering reliable features, reusable components, and scalable integrations.

You will operate in a fully remote, globally distributed environment, emphasizing experimentation, autonomy, and rapid technical exploration in AI and P2P domains.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building and maintaining production software.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript with complex state modeling.
• Hands-on experience building AI agent harnesses and tool calling.
• Experience with non-deterministic AI or complex systems testing.
• Experience creating and managing reusable npm modules.
• Strong testing, debugging, and production-quality skills.
• Deep interest in peer-to-peer tech, networking, or distributed systems.
• Contributions to open-source projects related to P2P or AI tooling are valued.
• Excellent remote-work communication in a globally distributed team.
• Highly experimental, hands-on mindset to explore new tech.

Responsibilities

• Build and deliver new features and bug fixes with reliability and performance.
• Design reusable tools, modules, and integrations for varying model sizes.
• Build AI agent harnesses: tool calling, agent loops, context mgmt, outputs.
• Develop evaluation frameworks and testing infra for non-deterministic AI.
• Evolve peer-to-peer tech to support local AI and distributed use cases.
• Maintain high-quality codebase with reviews, modular architecture, testing.
• Design resilient systems for network issues, model errors, timeouts, retries.
• Develop and maintain reusable npm modules and shared components.
• Experiment with new tech to expand AI and P2P capabilities.
• Collaborate with a globally distributed engineering team.
