Blackrock Health Galway Clinic invites applications for Deputy Radiology Services Manager, a permanent 35‑hour role on site in Ireland. You will support the Radiology Services Manager in clinical and administrative leadership of the Radiography department and ensure delivery of high‑quality patient care while complying with policies and safety standards.

The candidate should have around 6 years post‑qualification experience, ideally with management exposure, and solid knowledge of Radiography

Applications are invited for the position of:

Deputy Radiology Services Manager, Permanent, 35 hours per week

Role Summary: Support the Radiology Services Manager (RSM) in the management and supervision of the Radiography area clinically and administratively, ensuring effective delivery of clinical patient care and compliance with administrative and clinical policies and procedures. Work closely with the RSM on strategic planning, program development, personnel management and fiscal planning of the department.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake as a team leader, responsibility on a day-to-day basis for the running of the department, and any other area that may be assigned in the future.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical patient care standards, regulatory requirements and established policies and procedures.
  • Actively support and promote a professional clinical model that encourages staff participation in the development of clinical standards.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning for the department.
  • Plan, schedule and organize work for employee groups ensuring proper distribution of assignments and efficient utilisation of personnel, space and facilities.
  • Overall accountability for the requisition, care and maintenance of area inventory, equipment and supplies.
  • Monitor the level of resources utilised in service delivery and determine the appropriateness of resource consumption for assigned areas.
  • Ensure that staff complete proper documentation in order to appropriately process, bill and collect payments for patient services.
  • Ensure staff within their area maintain competency and fulfil their mandatory training requirements.
  • Ensure that the Radiology Services manager is provided with accurate records of equipment service, maintenance, malfunction, downtime and performance as required and co-ordinate preventative maintenance schedules in accordance with clinical demand.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of clinical, technical and radiology development in relation to best clinical practice and promote awareness of new developments.Ensuring that best practice is implemented and maintained.
  • Investigate and take appropriate action in accordance with hospital policy in relation to complaints, incidents and near misses. Ensure that all relevant policies, procedures, legislation and safe practice in relation to safety are understood by staff and complied with.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant standards.
  • Participate and co-operate with any internal or external evaluation of the service as appropriate.

The Candidate:

  • 6 years post qualification experience ideally
  • Have management experience ideally
  • Knowledge of: Standards in Radiography, Legislation, Quality Assurance, Risk Management, Developments in Radiography
  • Excellent organization, interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Excellent relationship building skills
  • Be able to express and address issues clearly, both orally and in writing and articulate them as necessary.
  • Ability to initiate, develop and deliver quality projects which are relevant and assist the Hospital to achieve and maintain its quality targets on an ongoing basis.
