Job summary

Mercy University Hospital in Cork City, Ireland seeks a Clerical Officer (Grade IV) for Radiology on a panel. The role is a temporary contract with full-time hours. Duties include patient registration, referrals processing, appointment bookings, ECG/X-ray-related RIS tasks, and data entry.

You will liaise with radiology staff and outside referrers while maintaining GDPR and confidentiality. The panel may be used to fill permanent, fixed-term or specified purpose vacancies.

• Excellent patient facing experience and able to work in a patient focused environment.
• Have an organised and methodical approach to work, with excellent organisational and planning skills.

• Excellent IT skills and experience in Hospital and Radiology IT Systems, e.g. PACS, RIS, iPMS, Healthlink required.
• Flexible approach to work.

Responsibilities

• Register patients upon arrival for their appointment, inputting information accurately and ensuring GDPR compliance.
• Process referrals for diagnostics imaging and input them correctly and promptly.
• Book patients for appointments and scans, and issue letters or make relevant phone calls.
• Process X-Ray Requests from Consultants and GPs via RIS, Healthlink or Post.
• Check daily appointments and raise queries with Radiographers or the Radiologist.
• Assist with Radiology outsourcing projects and compile lists with Radiographers for follow-up.
• Process DNA (Did Not Attend) and inform the referring Consultant or GP.
• Take patient payments and update insurance details where required.
• Liaise with Patient Accounts Office to follow up on admissions and private health forms.
• Work with the PAC/RIS Office and ensure accurate data entry.
