Job summary

Medtronic in Galway is seeking an experienced R&D Program Manager to lead cross-functional teams through the full lifecycle of CRM delivery system products. You will drive project plans, manage budgets, and ensure delivery on time and quality.

The role requires a degree in Engineering or Science with 5+ years of relevant experience (or an advanced degree with 3+ years), and familiarity with PM tools, design controls for medical devices, and strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering or Science with 5+ years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • PMP, Agile and/or master's in project management are preferable.
  • Experience with medical device design control is desirable.
  • Dynamic team member and leader who can work effectively on cross functional, global teams.
  • Excellent communication, organization, presentation and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Leads or leverages cross functional teams to evaluate, develop and manage projects for new product development and ongoing lifecycle management of products, processes and therapies.
  • Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and liaises between project management, planning, project team and line management.
  • Build cross functional project schedules from first principles.
  • Develop mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with cross functional peers and stakeholders.
  • Monitor the project from initiation through delivery and manage changing priorities on projects through effective schedule management.

We lead the market in Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) solutions, developing innovative technologies for patients across the Cardiac Pacing, Defibrillation and Patient Monitoring therapy spaces. Our Galway based product development teams focus primarily on the creation of catheter technologies that deliver these therapies to patients, ensuring the procedure is safe and reliable for patients and physicians. As a R&D Program Manager within the Galway CRM Team, you will work with cross functional core teams throughout product lifecycles to develop, commercialise & maintain CRM delivery system products.

A Day in The Life Of:
  • Leads or leverages cross functional teams to evaluate, develop and manage projects for new product development and ongoing lifecycle management of products, processes and therapies
  • Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management.
  • Build cross functional project schedules from first principles.
  • Develop mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with cross functional peers and stakeholders
  • Monitor the project from initiation through delivery and manage changing priorities on projects through effective schedule management and deployment of Project Management methodologies
  • Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports
  • Participate in implementing best practice tools and techniques in project management within projects and within CRM Galway
  • R&D Support resource management & tracking activities & support the overall project management infrastructure (metrics, reporting, program updates, design & business reviews etc.)
  • Communicate organizational capacity constraints, program risks, issues and decisions to core team leaders, cross functional core team members and key stakeholders
  • Be a recognized expert in your role, manage large projects or processes.
  • Provides guidance, coaching and training to other employees within the job area.
  • Operate as role model by striving for continuous improvement and being an agent of change
Key Skills & Experience
  • Qualified to Degree level in Engineering/Science or related discipline and minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • PMP, Agile and/or master’s in project management is preferrable
  • Experience with medical device design control is desirable.
  • Dynamic team member and leader who can work effectively and proactively on cross functional, global teams.
  • Excellent communication, organization, presentation & leadership skills
  • Experienced with MS project, MS Office and other PMO tools
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
