R&D Mechanical Design Engineer – Prototyping & CAD

Job summary

JFC Group in Tuam, Co Galway, is seeking an experienced mechanical design engineer to join Evolution R&D. You will develop new products for high-tech agriculture, build prototypes, create CAD models, and work with electronics/software teams to integrate controls.

The role requires a degree in engineering, 3+ years in design, strong CAD skills (CREO/SolidWorks), DFMEA and MFD, and good communication. On-site in Tuam with ISO 9001 processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in an Engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical.
• 3+ years of relevant industrial experience within a design environment.
• Excellent 3D CAD skills with CREO, SolidWorks or similar.
• Good understanding of design for manufacture is essential.
• Experience in DFMEA’s and risk management techniques a key advantage.
• Strong teamwork skills with a results-oriented commitment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in Root cause analysis.
• Project management experience desirable.
• Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment advantageous.
• Full Driving License.

Responsibilities

• Work on new product development within Evolution R&D team.
• Build prototypes, conduct laboratory, and field testing.
• Create CAD models and detailed drawings for manufacture.
• Prepare detailed reports on results of testing.
• Work closely with electronics / software disciplines on control system integration.
• Develop concepts through all stages of the mechanical design process.
• Conduct and participate in technical design reviews.
• Manage development schedules to project timelines.Document designs and specifications based on the ISO 9001 QMS.
• Any other duties as specified by Engineering Team Lead.
