Job summary

Real is seeking a Senior R&D Engineer for Galway on a long-term contract to help develop a next-generation Class III medical device platform. The role emphasizes design iteration, design freeze execution, DV, test method development, and strong problem-solving in a fast-paced NPD setting.

Start ASAP or in October; initial 18-month term with possible extensions. The role is based in Galway with 5 days onsite per week, potentially reduced to 4 days after trust is built.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting products through Design Freeze and Design Verification (DV).
• Hands-on verification testing, protocol/report writing, and test method development.
• Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and issue resolution experience.
• Experience operating in a regulated Class III medical device environment.
• Ability to drive technical workstreams independently with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of Design Controls and Risk Management.
• Experience with Statistical analysis and DOE (Minitab).

Job description

A global medical device company is looking for a Senior R&D Engineer to join their team on a long-term contract basis. The purpose of the role is to support the development of a next-generation Class III medical device platform, with a strong focus on design iteration, design freeze execution, design verification (DV), test method development, and technical problem-solving within a fast-paced New Product Development environment.

Essential skills:

• Proven experience supporting products through Design Freeze and Design Verification (DV)
• Hands-on verification testing, protocol/report writing, and test method development
• Strong technical troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and issue resolution experience
• Experience operating within a regulated Class III medical device environment
• Ability to drive technical workstreams independently with minimal supervision
• Design Controls and Risk Management
• Statistical analysis and DOE (Minitab)

The start date is for ASAP/October but they can wait for the right person. The initial contract length is for 18 months, with multiple extension options after. The role is based in Galway and will require 5 days onsite per week, once trust has been built up this can flex to 4 days. The rate is between €45 - €55 per hour depending on experience.
