Job summary

Dovida Ireland is seeking compassionate, adaptable and highly responsive Caregivers for our Quick Discharge Live-in Service, a premium non-medical support solution for urgent discharge or crisis-at-home scenarios.

Assignments mobilise in 1-3 working days and stay up to 21 working days. Caregivers provide personal care, mobility, light housekeeping, and accompany clients to appointments while following discharge care plans.

Qualifications

  • Hold QQI Level 5 Care Skills and Care of the Older Person modules.
  • Minimum of 6 months recent professional care experience in live-in or home care.
  • Demonstrate a high standard of spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care including bathing, grooming and mobility assistance.
  • Prompt medications and support daily living activities.
  • Assist with light housekeeping, laundry and errands.

Dovida Ireland is currentlyseekingcompassionate, adaptable, and highly responsive Caregivers for our new Quick Discharge Live-in Service.

This premium service supports clients whorequireurgent care following hospital discharge or during a crisis-at-home situation. Quick Discharge Live-in Caregivers provide short-term, intensive, non-medical support, enabling clients to return home safely and comfortably while reducing delays in discharge and providing reassurance to families.

Unlike standard Live-in Care placements, Quick Discharge assignments are mobilised within 1-3 working days and are limited to a maximum duration of 21 working days.

Caregivers within this service form part of a dedicated workforce specifically recruited and trained to provide rapid response support across Ireland. While the following outlines the general duties of the role, it is not exhaustive. Responsibilities may vary depending on the individual client's needs and will be agreed and outlined in the client’s care plan.

Job Specific Responsibilities and Role Competencies
Responsibilities of a Quick Discharge Live-in Caregiver
  • Support the client with Personal Care activities as required, including bathing/showering assistance, dressing and grooming support, personal hygiene including continence care, ensuring safety during transfers, repositioning and mobility
  • Prompt medications as required.
  • Support the client to engage in light housekeeping, laundry care, complete errands, care for household pets. This may include dusting, vacuuming, and tidying up, making beds and changing linens, cleaning bathrooms and kitchens, clearing surfaces, putting out the bins, watering plants, washing, folding, and putting away laundry, running local errands, such as grocery shopping, feeding pets and taking them for a walk, changing light bulbs, cleaning the fridge and managing dates of produce in the kitchen.
  • Support the client to engage in their community and attend appointments. This may include accompanyingclientstomedical appointments, attending religious ceremonies, visiting shops and services and engaging in daily exercise.
  • Support the client’s emotional wellbeing and promote positive social interaction. This may include supporting the client to engage in their hobbies, engaging in meaningful conversation and providing emotional support and companionship
  • Report any concerns to the local office or mobilise emergency supports as required
  • Follow Dovida policies and procedures at all times.
Education | Experience | Requirements
Education
  • Qualification: Hold QQI Level 5 Care Skills and Care of the Older Person modules, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
Experience
  • Minimum of 6 months recent professional care experience in live-in care, home care, community care,hospitalor nursing home settings.
Requirements
  • Language Skills: Demonstrate a high standard of spoken and written English.
  • Background Screening: Successfully complete Garda Vetting and any required international police clearances.
  • Passport/Work Eligibility: Hold an EU Passport, National ID Card, or valid Stamp 4 permission.
  • Basic IT Skills: Confident using Microsoft Teams,Formsand company systems.
  • Driving Licence: Full clean driving licence desirable.
  • Mandatory Training: Candidates must successfully complete the following training provided by Dovida:
  • Client Moving and Handling
  • Medication Prompting
  • Dovida Academy Training(including safeguarding and children first)
  • Quick Discharge Service Induction Training
  • Driver

As part of the dedicated Quick Discharge Live-in Service, Caregivers must also:

  • Be available to accept short-notice placements anywhere in Ireland.
  • Be willing to travel nationally across Ireland.
  • Be flexible regarding assignment location.
  • Complete placements of between 5 and 21 working days.
  • Follow all discharge-specific care plans and recovery objectives.
  • Maintain service standards during accelerated mobilisation.
  • Work collaboratively with local office teams and Live-in Shared Services.
  • Support clients transitioning safely from hospital to home.
  • Understand that placements within this service cannot exceed 21 working days.

Quick Discharge Live-in Caregiver Pay Rates 2026:
Qualified Caregiver
  • Hourly rate of pay€16.50Monday to Saturday.
  • Hourly rate of pay€19.00on Sunday.
  • Sleeping Night Allowance€10per night Monday to Saturday.
  • Sleeping Night Allowance€20per night on Sunday.
  • Completion Bonus of€210(€21 per working day)payable following successful completion of a 21-working day Quick Discharge placement.
  • Employer pension contribution in line with scheme eligibility requirements.

If you are assigned to work with a couple, you will earn anadditional15% based on your hourly rate.

Employer Pension contribution of 1.5% (if you meet the criteria)
