Job summary

Vertiv Group Corporation in Letterkenny, Ireland, seeks a Quality Engineer to drive continuous improvement of manufacturing quality. The role focuses on non-conformities, RCA, and corrective actions on the production floor.

You will work with Production, Engineering and Project teams to improve processes, inspect plans and QMS compliance. On-site role with regular manufacturing interactions and data-driven decision making.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Engineering or related field and 4+ years in Quality Engineering in manufacturing.
• Experience with 8D investigations and root cause analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support 8D investigations and RCA activities.
• Manage internal Non-Conformity Reports from identification through closure.
• Define, implement and follow up on corrective and preventive actions.
• Support the Quality Project Engineer with ITPs and checklists.
• Provide technical Quality support on the production floor.
• Analyze Quality data and trends to identify improvements.
• Participate in FMEA with manufacturing and engineering teams.
• Contribute to development and standardisation of Quality processes and work instructions.
• Collaborate with production, engineering and project teams to resolve issues.
• Report Quality performance metrics to the Quality Manager.
• Participate as Auditor of the Vertiv Quality Management System.

Location: Letterkenny, onsite 5 days per week

The Quality Engineer is responsible for managing internal non-conformities, driving root cause analysis and corrective actions, and supporting the QC inspection team. Reporting directly to the Quality Manager, this position focuses on continuous improvement of manufacturing Quality through data-driven analysis, development of inspection plans, and hands-on support on the production floor.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and support 8D investigations and root cause analysis (RCA) activities
• Manage internal Non-Conformity Reports from identification through to closure
• Define, implement, and follow up on corrective and preventive actions
• Support the Quality Project Engineer in improving and refining project-specific Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and checklists based on lessons learned and NC findings
• Provide technical Quality support to QC Technicians and the QC Supervisor on the production floor
• Analyse Quality data and trends to identify improvement opportunities
• Participate in FMEA activities with manufacturing and engineering teams
• Contribute to the development and standardisation of Quality processes and work instructions
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and project teams to resolve Quality issues
• Report Quality performance metrics and improvement progress to the Quality Manager
• Participate as Auditor of the Vertiv Quality Management System.
• Other responsibilities may be assigned from time to time as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Job Qualifications:

• A four-year degree in Engineering or a related field of study and a minimum of 4 years of Quality Engineering role within a manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated experience with 8D methodology and root cause analysis tools

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Experience with 8D, 5Why, Ishikawa or other quality tools
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards
• Experience in HVAC, electrical, and/or CSA-certified product manufacturing is a plus
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proactive mindset with the ability to work autonomously
• Good communication and collaboration skills
• Computer skills including email, collaboration tools, Excel, Word, and file management

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

• Frequent standing and moving within manufacturing and office environments
• Working in a manufacturing environment around machinery and equipment
• Protective Equipment Required (safety shoes, eyewear, earplugs, gloves, etc. where required)
