Job summary

A well established international insurance business in Dublin is seeking a qualified accountant to join the finance team. The role covers financial reporting, consolidation, budgeting and forecasting, as well as intercompany activity and control improvements.

You will work with finance teams across international areas to strengthen processes and reporting, and contribute to developing internal controls while managing relationships with business units.

Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant with 3-4 years PQE in insurance or financial services.
  • Experience in financial reporting, consolidation and budgeting.
  • Strong numeric accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Review quarterly P&L and balance sheet data for KPI accuracy.
  • Forecast and budget review to ensure accurate phase reporting.
  • Assist in consolidated quarterly financial reporting submissions.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations (customers, vendors, suspense, bank).
  • Assist intercompany reconciliations and quarterly submissions.
  • Analyze business unit performance and resolve issues timely.
  • Develop internal processes and controls for the portfolio.
  • Maintain finance relationships across assigned areas.
  • Document and strengthen internal controls.
  • Support ad hoc projects from Finance leadership.

Job description

I am looking to recruit a qualified Accountant to join the finance team of a well established international insurance business in Dublin.

This is a broad role with exposure to financial reporting, consolidation, budgeting and forecasting, balance sheet reconciliations, reinsurance reporting and intercompany activity. You’ll also work closely with finance teams across international business areas, helping to strengthen processes, controls and reporting.

This is a great opportunity for an accountant who enjoys getting into the detail while still having plenty of exposure across a wider international finance function.

Responsibilities:
  • Review and analysis of quarterly key financial data (Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet) for assigned business areas to ensure accurate reporting and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Review and analysis of submitted forecast and budget (by phase) key financial data (Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet) to ensure accurate forecasting and budgeting phase reporting.
  • Assist in the consolidated quarterly financial reporting submissions in accordance with Group reporting requirements and communicated deadlines.
  • Balance sheet reconciliations review (Customer, Vendors, Suspense Account, Bank and Cash reconciliations).
  • Assist Local Business Unit and accountants with the Intercompany reconciliation and submissions on a quarterly basis
  • Review and analyse business unit performance including the identification of and resolution of issues on a timely basis.
  • Assist and actively contribute to the development of internal systems, processes, and controls for the business portfolio.
  • Develop and manage key finance relationships across assigned business areas.
  • Develop and document key processes to maintain & strengthen internal controls.
  • Ad hoc project work assigned by the Finance Manager and/or Head of Finance.
Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Qualified accountant with 3-4 yrs PQE ideally in insurance or financial services
  • Experience in accounts preparation and financial reporting and control
  • Familiarity with SAP (S/4Hana) and with data modelling (Power BI) is preferred.
  • Excellent numeric skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent knowledge of and ability to use all MS Office programs with solid Excel skills (pivots, macros…)
  • Familiarity with some generative artificial intelligence (AI) large language models (LLMs)
  • A strong ability to work on your own initiative & be proactive.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
