Job summary

RBK in Galway, Ireland, seeks an experienced Financial Accountant to manage monthly management accounts and statutory reporting for the Irish entity and international entities, reporting to the CFO. The role covers leading month-end close, refining controls, assisting with audits, and supporting cash-flow forecasting and project accounting across construction projects.

Occasional travel to Mayo; the candidate should be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA) with practice background and construction

Qualifications

  • Qualified Accountant or finalist (ACA/ACCA).
  • Practice background, ideally with some relevant post-qualification commercial experience.
  • Experience within the construction sector would be an advantage.
  • Strong hands-on approach, with the ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • Ability to manage and work to defined accounts reporting timetables and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reporting for the Irish company and international entities/branches.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Maintain strong financial controls and identify opportunities to improve processes.
  • Assist the Group CFO with cash-flow forecasting and working-capital management.
  • Support the development of system-based project/job-cost accounting and analysis across construction projects.
  • Monitor revenue recognition and WIP.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate transaction processing.
  • Oversee bank reconciliations and perform balance sheet and control account reconciliations.
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable and supplier reconciliations.
  • Develop and enhance Sage reporting functionality.
  • Liaise with project managers, quantity surveyors and operational teams on financial matters.
  • Ensure compliance with Irish accounting standards, company policies and relevant legislation.
  • Prepare VAT returns and other tax compliance requirements.
  • Support payroll accounting and related reconciliations.
  • Assist with the annual audit and provide information to external accountants/auditors.

As part of this continued expansion, they are now looking to add an experienced Financial Accountant to their team. Reporting to the CFO, the Financial Accountant will play a key role in the day-to-day financial management of the business, with responsibility for monthly management accounts and financial reporting across the Irish company and international entities.
