Job summary

Darwin Hawkins in Cork is seeking a Newly Qualified Accountant to join its audit, accounts and tax practice. You will work with partners on a portfolio of SME and owner-managed clients, gaining exposure across audit, accounts prep and tax while developing professional relationships.

You will report to the Audit Manager and Partners, contribute to year-end financial statements, management accounts, and tax compliance, and benefit from a collaborative team environment and clear progression.

Qualifications

• Newly qualified ACA, ACCA or CPA with practice training.
• Experience in audit, accounts preparation and tax compliance.
• Strong interpersonal and client-focused communication.
• Excellent attention to detail and technical accounting knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Audit Assignments – Assisting with and leading audit engagements for a portfolio of SME and owner-managed business clients.
• Financial Statements – Preparing year-end statutory financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
• Accounts Preparation – Preparing management accounts and financial reports for clients across various sectors.
• Tax Compliance – Preparing corporation tax, income tax and VAT returns for a diverse client base.
• Client Relationships – Acting as a key point of contact for clients and responding to queries in a timely manner.
• Advisory Support – Assisting senior team members with business advisory and compliance projects.
• Regulatory Compliance – Ensuring all assignments are completed in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.
• Team Collaboration – Working closely with partners and colleagues to deliver a high-quality service to clients.
