Job summary

Depaul is seeking a Project Worker for Suaimhneas in Dublin to support women in early recovery from addiction. The role is a permanent contract, 35 hours per week, on a 7-day rota, with a salary of €39,872.09 per annum. Applicants must have experience in recovery settings, a recovery coaching qualification, and strong IT skills.

The role emphasises safeguarding, care planning, and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, while promoting wellbeing and independence for residents.

Qualifications

  • 2 years’ paid experience in a drug-free/recovery model setting (residential desirable).
  • Experience in care planning and keyworking with evidence available.

Responsibilities

  • Meet practical needs of service users: independent living skills, cooking, cleaning, laundry, budgeting, time use and self-care.
  • Assess needs and refer to appropriate agencies.
  • Provide key working, document activities, advocate and report progress.
  • Liaise with external agencies, recovery day programs, health boards and county councils.
  • Adhere to quality assurance policies and procedures.
  • Support team through handovers, supervise Relief Workers and Volunteers.
  • Engage in supervision and annual appraisals for development.
  • Follow Depaul Policies, Health & Safety, Boundaries, Confidentiality.

Project Worker - Suaimhneas

Permanent Contract

Location - Dublin

Hours - 35 Hours Per week across a 7-day rota

Salary - €39.872.09 per annum

Scope of Responsibility

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to provide support through the recovery model in Suaimhneas. Suaimhneas is a 6 bed recovery model supporting women in early recovery from addiction issues. The primary focus is to promote the wellbeing of women in recovery. Please note that we only accept female applicants due to service's circumstance. Depaul is a values-led organisation working with a number of services throughout Dublin. This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding team that is focused on the organisation’s development going forward.

Key Areas of Responsibility
  • To ensure the practical needs of our services users are met i.e. Supporting independent living skills, cooking, cleaning, laundry, budgeting, meaningful use of time and self-care while ensuring a safe and secure environment in a high threshold service.
  • To assess the needs of service users and to refer them to appropriate agencies.
  • To provide key working to a number of residents, recording this work, advocating for them and updating line manager and the team on progress.
  • To liaise with external agencies, recovery day programs, health boards and county councils.
  • To ensure all quality assurance policies and procedures are adhered to too.
  • To be a team player taking a role in handovers, supervising Relief Workers, Volunteers and supporting your team members in ensuring all decision making is consistent.
  • To participate in supervision with your line manager and annual appraisals and identifying your own professional development within your role.
  • To ensure all Depaul Policies and Procedures are adhered to particularly Health and Safety, professional boundaries, code of Conduct and Confidentiality.
  • To at all times undertake your role in a professional manner maintaining a high quality standard of work in line with Depaul Values and ethos.

The above list is not exhaustive; additional areas of responsibility both in relation to tasks and direct reports may be added over time.

Person Requirements
  • 2 year’s paid experience working in a drug free/ recovery model setting (residential setting, desirable) Must have experience of care planning and keyworking and be in a position to evidence this.
  • A solid understanding of the recovery models such as 12 steps.
  • Must have Recovery Coaching qualification and experience
  • Good working knowledge of risk assessment processes and systems (i.e. S/U Risk assessment, Lone Working, Activity Risk Assessments)
  • Process an understanding of harm reduction and low threshold working
  • Process an understanding of why people become homeless and the issues they present with, understanding what supports can be offered in homeless services to service users with complex support needs
  • Have experience working with needs assessment, key-working and support planning for people in recovery from various addictions.
  • Have a knowledge of the statutory and voluntary sector resources available to homeless people ∙ Understand the importance for Health and Safety in a residential setting.
  • Be a good communicator and computer literate
  • Knowledge and understanding of Depaul vision mission and values.
  • Proficient use of IT required in role, including email in a professional capacity
  • An understanding of, and respect for the values and beliefs of Depaul

While the line manager is specified above, this does not preclude higher level grades from directing or reviewing work or setting dotted line collaborative working relationships between same or different the level positions.
