Job description

Tetra Tech are looking for Project & Senior Project Managers for Client Side Water Sector. Join a team delivering complex, high-value projects that shape essential water infrastructure. This is an opportunity to take ownership of major capital investment work from planning and design through to commissioning, ensuring outcomes that are safe, compliant, and delivered to the right standard.

Purpose and Scope of the Role

We are seeking Project and Senior Project Managers to provide client-side leadership across major water sector projects and capital programmes. You will act as the Contracting Entity’s representative, managing scope, budget, schedule, risk, procurement, and contract performance across the full project lifecycle.

Day to day, you will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, work closely with technical leads, design consultants, contractors, and external service providers, and ensure interfaces are actively managed. You will develop and maintain project execution plans, cost estimates, risk registers, monthly progress reports, and governance outputs, while also supporting stakeholder consultation and contract administration. The role requires confidence in managing complex delivery environments where quality, compliance, and commercial control are critical.

Your Impact in This Position
  • In the short term, you will establish strong control over live projects, build trusted relationships with clients and delivery partners, and quickly add value through robust planning and clear reporting.
  • In the medium term, you will help drive consistency across delivery, improve project controls, and support the successful progression of significant water sector investment programmes.
  • Over the longer term, this role offers the chance to broaden your leadership across major infrastructure delivery, develop deeper client-side expertise, and progress into more senior programme or portfolio leadership.
Core Capabilities for Success
  • Project Delivery and Control: You will bring strong project management capability across scope, schedule, cost, risk, and change control, with the discipline to keep complex projects moving predictably and in line with governance requirements.
  • Technical Water Sector Expertise: You will apply practical water engineering knowledge to support design review, delivery decisions, and technical coordination, ensuring solutions are buildable, compliant, and aligned to project objectives.
  • Commercial and Contract Management: You will have a sound understanding of contract administration, procurement, variations, and commercial reporting, with the confidence to protect client interests and support informed decision making.
  • Stakeholder and Supplier Engagement: You will work effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams, communicating clearly, managing expectations, and maintaining constructive relationships throughout delivery.
  • Planning, Reporting and Assurance: You will produce clear, accurate reporting and maintain robust project controls, with the ability to identify issues early, track progress, and support effective oversight through tools and systems such as Oracle Primavera P6 where applicable.

Desirable
  • Project management qualification such as PMP or PRINCE2.
  • Experience operating in a client-side project management role.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Primavera P6.
  • Experience on site as well as in office-based project environments.
