Job summary

Murphy in Navan is recruiting for a Project Manager to lead energy and industry projects on-site, ensuring safety, schedule, and budget adherence. The role requires strong contract management ability, and experience managing multi-disciplinary teams across large civil works.

You will be accountable for delivering contract programmes, maintaining client relations, and driving commercial success, including margin and cost control, within a valued energy transition portfolio.

Qualifications

  • Hold Civil Engineering, Construction Management Degree or relevant trade certification.
  • Experience in Construction Contracts, particularly Public Works contracts.
  • Experience in a Project Managerial role on large site-based projects.
  • Experience on large public civil infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and client/subcontractor relations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver projects safely, on time, and to budget, in line with contract requirements.
  • Set and maintain project standards and ensure requirements are delivered.
  • Identify and resolve issues promptly and manage contract programmes.
  • Line manage Site Managers, Site Engineers and Section Managers.
  • Oversee client relationships and communicate progress to stakeholders.
  • Ensure risk assessments are created and reviewed as required.
  • Handle commercial activities including gross margin and cost control.
  • Oversee subcontractor performance and cost metrics.

What you will be doing:
  • To be fully accountable for the delivery of the projects, ensuring it is completed safely, on time, in accordance with the contract requirements and to budget.
  • Sets the overall standard on the projects/contract.
  • Ensure the project requirements are identified and delivered.
  • Identify issues and ensure they are resolved in a controlled and timely manner.
  • To ensure contract programmes are planned, reviewed, and delivered.
  • Line management of Site Managers, Site Engineers and Section Managers.
  • Responsible for effective client relationship management, collaborative approach and providing updates to internal and external stakeholders on project/contract progress.
  • Endure risk assessments are created, in place and reviewed as and when required.
  • Will be expected to resolve most operational issues with any business-critical issues referred to the Project Director and Contracts Manager.
  • Responsible for all commercial activities associated with the project including the delivery of the gross margin, management of cost control and other key commercial and financial metrics.
  • Overall performance management of subcontractors of the gross margin, management of cost control and other key commercial and financial metrics.
Who we are looking for:
  • Hold Civil Engineering, Construction Management Degree or a relevant trade certification
  • Experience in Construction Contracts in particular Public Works Contracts.
  • Experience within a Project Managerial role.
  • Experience in managing complex site-based projects.
  • Experience of working on large public civil infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to develop close working relationships with clients and subcontractors.
