Job summary

Global Professional Consultants is seeking a Project Manager for a leading Irish civil engineering contractor delivering water and utilities projects nationwide, with current ESB/Utilities work around Wexford.

The role requires a Level 8 qualification, 5+ years in Ireland, 2+ years with ESB, PICW qualification, and strong MS Office/MS Project skills. A full driving licence is essential for site-based work.

Qualifications

• Level 8 qualification required.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience working in Ireland.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience working alongside ESB.
• Proven experience on utilities projects in Ireland essential.
• Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Project.

Responsibilities

• Review project plans and produce a detailed baseline programme on MS Project.
• Track programme regularly and provide updates to client.
• Identify critical path delays and negotiate extensions with the client.
• Review pricing and monitor costs to keep the project within budget.
• Identify where the project is losing money and communicate solutions to the Contracts Manager.
• Review contract documentation and issue notices within specified timeframes.
• Line manage Site Agent, Project Engineer and QS and oversee all on-site workers.
• Review and approve monthly progress claims.
• Review HS and quality documentation and carry out audits.
• Identify design issues and propose client solutions.

Job description

Project Manager required for one of Ireland’s top civil engineering companies delivering exceptional infrastructure and utilities projects across Ireland. This is an excellent opportunity to join a top contractor enhancing critical water infrastructure across Ireland. They are seeking a Project Managerliving in the Wexford or the surrounding region as they have upcoming Power (ESB/Utilities) projects in multiple locations within Wexford.

Main Responsibilities:

• Review project plans and requirements and produce a detailed baseline programme on Microsoft Project.
• Track programme on a regular basis and issue updates to client.
• Identify critical path delays when they occur and demonstrate on programme. Negotiate extensions of time where required with the client.
• Review project pricing and track internal costs to ensure project is being delivered as priced and can be completed within required budget.
• Identify areas where project is losing money, identify root cause and develop strategy to mitigate this. Communicate commercials issues and proposed solutions to the Contracts Manager.
• Understand what is included in the project contract/price and identify project variations where they occur. Negotiate additional costs where required with the client.
• Review contract documentation and communicate required notices to the client within timeframes specified.
• Line manager for Site Agent, Project Engineer and QS. Responsible for all workers on site through Site Agent.
• Review and approve monthly progress claims.
• Review and approve Risk Assessment Method Statements and other pre-construction HS documentation.
• Carry out regular HS and quality audits.
• Identify design issues and communicate these to the client along with proposed solutions.

Requirements:

• Level 8 qualification
• Minimum 5 years’ experience working in Ireland
• Minimum 2 years’ experience working alongside ESB
• Proven experience on utilities projects in Ireland essential
• Excellent computer skills with detailed knowledge of Microsoft outlook, word excel and project.
• Full drivers licence.
• Background in civil engineering preferred
• PICW qualification required
