Job description

Project Manager – Busbar | MEP & Data Centres

Lead Complex Electrical Infrastructure Projects from Design to Delivery

Are you an experienced Project Manager with an engineering, construction, MEP or electrical background looking for your next challenge?

This is a high-impact role where you’ll take projects from sales handover and engineering through BIM coordination, manufacturing, site delivery and final close-out. You’ll be the key point of contact for the client, bringing together engineering, BIM, production, commercial, procurement and site teams to deliver complex projects safely, efficiently, on programme and to specification.

If you enjoy working at the intersection of engineering, construction, manufacturing and project delivery, this is an opportunity to make a real impact.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll have end-to-end responsibility for your projects, including:

  • Own the client relationship from project handover through to successful completion.
  • Lead project mobilisation, confirming site requirements, programmes, key dates and deliverables.
  • Coordinate the production and approval of technical submittals, working closely with Engineering.
  • Lead BIM coordination, including modelling programmes, design freeze, drawing submissions and client approvals.
  • Manage scope changes, variations, commercial issues and client expectations throughout delivery.
  • Develop and maintain project programmes, working with Planning to manage key milestones, production slots and site requirements.
  • Coordinate with Production Planning to ensure projects are released and manufactured in line with programme requirements.
  • Identify long-lead materials, procurement risks and project dependencies, working with Purchasing to mitigate potential delays.
  • Take ownership of project budgets, cost control, revenue, commercial performance and variations.
  • Manage monthly applications for payment and invoicing.
  • Maintain project risks, issues, dependencies and actions (RIDAC) and drive timely resolution.
  • Coordinate delivery dates, logistics and dispatch with the Transport and Site Deployment teams.
  • Ensure construction drawings are issued to the installation team at the appropriate stage.
  • Oversee the completion of as-built drawings, O&M manuals and project documentation.
  • Lead project close-out, final measure reconciliation and lessons learned.
  • Provide clear and regular project reporting to the Project Delivery Lead.
Why This Role Will Appeal to an Engineering or Construction Professional

This isn’t a purely administrative Project Manager position.

You’ll be working across the complete project lifecycle, combining technical understanding, construction coordination, commercial management and client leadership.

You’ll gain exposure to:
  • Electrical Distribution – busbar trunking and electrical infrastructure
  • Construction & MEP – complex projects within live construction environments
  • Data Centres – projects supporting critical, high-performance infrastructure
  • Engineering & BIM – technical submittals, design coordination and design freeze
  • Commercial Management – budgets, variations, cost control and applications for payment
  • Manufacturing – engineer-to-order production and project-specific manufacturing
  • Site & Logistics – coordinating manufacturing, delivery and installation
  • Client Management – becoming the trusted point of contact throughout delivery
What We’re Looking For
Experience
  • 5+ years’ Project Management experience within engineering, manufacturing, MEP, electrical, construction or data centre environments.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously from initial handover through to completion.
  • Experience taking ownership of client-facing projects in a delivery-focused environment.
  • Experience within an engineer-to-order, project-driven or technically complex organisation.
  • Strong understanding of how engineering, procurement, manufacturing and site activities interact within a project programme.
Technical & Commercial Knowledge
  • Electrical distribution systems, switchgear, busbar trunking or similar infrastructure.
  • MEP or data centre construction environments.
  • BIM coordination and Common Data Environments.
  • Technical submittals, drawing approvals and design freeze processes.
  • Project planning using Microsoft Project or similar.
  • ERP/project management systems such as Oracle EBS, Oracle Apex or equivalent.
  • Procurement and project coordination tools such as Smartsheet or similar.
  • Budget management, cost control, revenue recognition and variation management.
Qualifications
  • Degree-level qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline.
  • PMP, PRINCE2 or IPMA certification would be advantageous.
  • An engineering or electrical background is particularly desirable.
The Person

We’re looking for someone who can take ownership, solve problems and make things happen.

You’ll be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change, projects run concurrently and successful delivery depends on strong collaboration across multiple teams.

You’ll be:

  • Technically minded with the ability to understand complex engineering and construction requirements.
  • Commercially astute, with a strong focus on cost, programme and project performance.
  • Client-focused, confident managing expectations and building long-term relationships.
  • Organised and proactive, able to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • A strong communicator who can influence teams without relying on direct line management authority.
  • Comfortable working across engineering, BIM, manufacturing, commercial, procurement and site teams.
  • A confident decision-maker who takes accountability and drives projects through to completion.

Ready to Take Ownership of Major Electrical Infrastructure Projects?

If you’re an experienced Project Manager, Electrical Project Manager, MEP Project Manager, Construction Project Manager or Engineering Project Manager looking to work on technically challenging projects within the data centre and electrical infrastructure sectors, we’d like to hear from you.
