Job description

We’re looking for an experienced Production Control Manager to join a major programme of complex, mission-critical construction projects.

This isn’t a traditional planning or reporting role.

We’re looking for someone who has come from a hands‑on Project Management or Construction Management background, someone who has walked the site, managed packages, worked with subcontractors and understands what it actually takes to deliver a project from construction through to commissioning and handover.

You’ll bring that practical delivery experience into a Production Control / Last Planner environment, helping project teams understand where construction really is versus where it should be, and what needs to happen to keep delivery on track.

What you’ll be doing

  • Monitor planned vs actual construction progress
  • Track key milestones, productivity and work-package performance
  • Identify constraints before they impact the programme
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Package Managers and subcontractors
  • Support short-term, look-ahead and Last Planner planning
  • Challenge and validate reported progress against what is actually happening on site
  • Identify sequencing, labour, materials, design, logistics and access constraints
  • Support recovery planning where activities are falling behind
  • Use digital construction and production-control tools to provide accurate progress visibility
  • Understand how construction progress impacts testing, commissioning and final handover

What we’re looking for

Ideally, you’ll have previously worked as a Project Manager, Construction Manager, Package Manager or in a similar site-delivery role, before moving into Production Control, Last Planner or Project Controls.

You should have:

  • A genuine understanding of site operations and construction sequencing
  • Experience with Last Planner, Production Control or Lean Construction methodologies
  • Strong understanding of subcontractor and package performance
  • The confidence to challenge progress information when it doesn’t reflect what’s happening on site
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills

Experience within data centres, mission-critical environments, MEP-heavy projects or other complex construction programmes would be highly advantageous.

THE KEY THING

We’re not looking for someone who simply updates a programme or dashboard.

We want someone who can look at the data, walk the site and understand the story behind it.

If you’ve delivered projects on the ground and have since moved into Production Control / Last Planner / Project Controls, we’d be interested in speaking with you.
