About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Product Quality Engineer to join an innovative engineering organisation developing complex electronic products within a regulated industry.
This is a cross-functional role where you'll work closely with R&D, Quality, Production, Test Engineering, and Purchasing to ensure products meet the highest standards of quality, reliability and compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
You will play a key role in influencing product design from concept through launch, supporting new product introduction (NPI) and providing technical expertise for sustaining engineering and production quality issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with R&D to ensure product designs meet quality, reliability, and regulatory requirements.
- Review electronic schematics, PCB layouts, and hardware specifications to identify design-related quality risks.
- Lead Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and support design risk management activities.
- Drive root cause investigations for hardware and firmware-related product issues using structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Support product verification and validation strategies during New Product Introduction (NPI).
- Analyse parametric test data and generate statistical reports to support product quality improvements.
- Provide quality oversight for hardware and software testing activities.
- Partner with Production, Test Engineering, and Process Quality teams to resolve technical product issues.
- Support supplier and component approval processes alongside Purchasing and R&D.
- Maintain product traceability and ensure compliance with internal quality systems and applicable regulatory standards.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of product quality processes.
- Assist with quality audits and regulatory inspections relating to design controls.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electronic, Electrical, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a Quality Engineering or R&D role within a regulated industry.
- Strong understanding of product development, design controls, and product lifecycle management.
- Experience with hardware/software integration and electronic product testing.
- Ability to interpret electronic schematics, circuit designs, technical drawings, and engineering specifications.
- Hands-on experience with DFMEA, risk management, and root cause analysis tools.
- Knowledge of embedded systems, firmware, or software development is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or comparable quality management systems.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Desirable Experience
- Experience in industries such as medical devices, aerospace, automotive, or life safety.
- Exposure to statistical analysis tools for engineering test data.
- Knowledge of NPI processes and design verification methodologies.
