Job description

As Product Owner, you will own the CMS and AI backlogs and work as an embedded partner to our engineering teams, ensuring a continuous flow of clear, well-prioritised and outcome-driven work. You will play a key role in translating business objectives into deliverable product increments, balancing customer value, technical sustainability and delivery predictability.

Working closely with Product Management, you will help shape and refine requirements, turning strategic objectives into well-defined epics, features, product back log and acceptance criteria. While Product Management owns product strategy and roadmap decisions, you will be responsible for ensuring teams have the clarity and context needed to deliver effectively.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working closely with engineers, challenging assumptions, managing priorities and making informed trade-offs in a complex software environment. You will contribute to the ongoing evolution of our CMS platform while helping identify and deliver practical AI-driven capabilities that create value for our customers and business.

Responsibilities:
  • Own and prioritise the CMS and AI backlogs, ensuring work is transparent, appropriately sequenced and aligned with agreed product and business priorities.
  • Translate business objectives, stakeholder needs and product initiatives into clear epics, user stories and acceptance criteria that enable efficient delivery by engineering teams.
  • Facilitate backlog refinement, sprint planning and ongoing prioritisation activities, ensuring teams have sufficient clarity to deliver with confidence and predictability.
  • Define and validate acceptance criteria, ensuring completed work meets agreed requirements, quality expectations and release readiness standards before delivery.
  • Balance immediate delivery needs with longer-term platform sustainability by incorporating non-functional requirements such as performance, reliability, security and maintainability into backlog priorities.
  • Identify and shape opportunities to leverage AI capabilities within the platform, working with Product Management and engineering teams to translate ideas into valuable, deliverable outcomes.
  • Communicate progress, priorities, risks and trade-offs to stakeholders, using delivery metrics and evidence-based insights to support effective decision-making.
Key Requirements:
  • Proven experience owning and maintaining a product backlog within an Agile software delivery environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business problems and product objectives into well-defined user stories, acceptance criteria and deliverable work packages.
  • Experience working closely with software engineering teams to prioritise work, clarify requirements and manage competing demands.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to build alignment and manage expectations across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to use delivery and product metrics to inform prioritisation, decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Practical understanding of software development practices and how architecture, operational concerns and technical constraints influence product decisions.
  • Experience working with content management systems, workflow platforms or configurable enterprise software solutions.
  • Experience defining or delivering AI-enabled product features, workflows or capabilities.
  • Experience using AI-powered tools to improve productivity, research, analysis and delivery outcomes.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Jira or similar Agile delivery tooling.
  • Experience working within insurance, financial services or other regulated industries, with knowledge of complex business processes and compliance considerations.
