Harmonics Recruitment is seeking an experienced Product Engineer to join a leading international aviation organisation in Shannon, Co. Clare. The role focuses on technical support to production, product compliance, and ongoing process improvements within a fast-paced engineering environment.

Responsibilities include implementing TPM checks, leading investigations into defects, and coordinating cross-functional teams to reduce TAT and costs while maintaining high product quality.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Materials or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years in an Engineering role with strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to understand complex processes involving multiple disciplines.
  • Strong communication and structured approach to process stability (Lean/6 Sigma).
  • Experience in coordinating and overseeing project activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to production to deliver high quality, competitive products.
  • Ensure Product Compliance, Product Quality and process improvements.
  • Lead investigations of process problems and corrective actions.
  • Define and implement TPM checks and monitor cost savings.
  • Provide technical support across production, maintenance, quality, and commercial teams.

Job description

We're looking for an experienced Product Engineer to join a leading international aviation organisation in Shannon, Co. Clare. This is an excellent opportunity to work on technical challenges, process improvements and product quality within a fast-paced engineering environment.

Position Summary
  • The Product Engineer is responsible for providing the required technical support to the production team
  • to deliver a high quality, competitive and profitable product. The Product Engineer works with the
  • Operations Team to ensure Product Compliance, Product Quality, Process Improvements, Turn
  • Around-Time Reduction and Technical Support.
Responsibilities and Tasks including but are not limited to the following:
Product Compliance
  • Provide adequate work instructions by way of Routers & Operations sheets to ensure requirements are specified.
  • Review of ESM and RD documents to identify and implement the changes in accordance with the companies Documentation Review procedures.
  • Audit the repair process for compliance with the specified procedures.
Product Quality
  • Promote application of best practices to deliver robust processes in repair of products.
  • Establish and Implement the CTQ metrics to determine / control process stability.
  • Define the daily, weekly, monthly TPM checks with Maintenance.
  • Lead investigation of process problems, taking corrective action where deviation occurs.
  • Investigate and issue written reports on non-conformances relating to the product quality
Process Improvements (Product Cost / Profitability)
  • Identify and investigate opportunities for product repair cost improvements to achieve agreed targets.
  • Obtain internal & external approvals for process improvement changes.
  • Measure and monitor Rework costs and reasons, working with the Team to achieve target reductions.
  • Measure and monitor Scrap quantities and reasons, working with the team to minimise the scrap rates.
  • Define specifications for new equipment purchase / modifications and sign off on qualification/ acceptance.
  • Implement Process Improvements and monitor successful achievement of proposed savings.
TAT Reduction
  • Identify and investigate opportunities for TAT Reductions to achieve agreed TAT targets
  • Implement and monitor success of TAT improvement initiatives, working closely with other team members.
  • Issue Inspection Reports to Customers
  • Provide technical support to Team members, i.e. dispositioning of parts
  • Provide technical support to Commercial, i.e. definition of work scopes
  • Provide Technical Support to Quality, i.e. investigation of warranty returns
  • Provide Technical Support to Production, i.e. procurement of equipment, support to Maintenance
Education and requirements:
  • Degree level preferably in Materials or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5 years plus experience in an Engineering role.
  • Ability to understand complex processes involving multiple disciplines.
  • Strong analytical / problem solving skills.
  • Confident and effective decision maker.
  • Methodical and structured approach to establishing hand assessing process stability i.e. Lean/ 6 Sigma.
  • Excellent presentation skills and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated success in solving problems within intricate environments.
  • Coordinating and overseeing project activities experience is essential.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and expertise in documenting processes.
