Private Client Tax – Associate Director / Director
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Private Client Tax professional to join a growing professional services firm in a senior leadership position.
The successful candidate will work closely with a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, families, trusts and privately owned businesses, providing a combination of complex tax advisory, planning and compliance services.
This is a senior role with significant client exposure, offering the opportunity to take ownership of key relationships, lead complex advisory assignments and contribute to the continued growth and development of the Private Client Tax offering.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and develop a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals, families, entrepreneurs, trusts and privately owned businesses.
- Provide high-quality personal tax advice across a broad range of areas including Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax, trusts, succession planning, residence and domicile, wealth structuring and wider estate planning.
- Lead and deliver complex private client tax advisory assignments, identifying planning opportunities and providing practical, commercially focused solutions.
- Oversee personal tax compliance across a portfolio of clients, ensuring work is delivered accurately and within all relevant Revenue and filing deadlines.
- Act as a trusted senior adviser to clients, developing strong and long-term relationships and becoming a key point of contact for their tax affairs.
- Work closely with Partners, Directors and colleagues across other service lines to deliver an integrated service to clients.
- Advise on the tax implications of business ownership, restructuring, wealth transfers and succession planning where relevant.
- Review and oversee work completed by junior members of the team, ensuring a consistently high standard of technical and client service delivery.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching and mentoring to Managers, Seniors and junior team members, supporting their continued professional development.
- Take responsibility for the financial management of client portfolios, including WIP, billing, budgets, recoveries and overall profitability.
- Contribute to the development and growth of the Private Client Tax service line through business development, networking, proposals and identifying opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
- Keep up to date with developments in Irish tax legislation and relevant case law, ensuring clients receive accurate and commercially relevant advice.
- Develop relationships with other professional advisers, including solicitors, investment advisers, financial planners and other specialists where appropriate.
About You
- AITI/CTA, ACA, ACCA, CA or equivalent professional qualification.
- Significant experience within a Private Client or Personal Tax environment, ideally gained within professional services.
- Strong technical knowledge across Irish personal taxation and private client advisory.
- Experience advising high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, families and/or trusts.
- Strong exposure to advisory work, with the ability to identify and communicate practical tax planning opportunities.
- Experience managing a significant client portfolio and taking ownership of senior client relationships.
- Commercially minded, with an understanding of portfolio management, billing, WIP and business development.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills, with experience developing and mentoring tax professionals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to work directly with senior clients and other professional advisers.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple complex assignments and competing deadlines.
