We are looking for an experienced and innovative Principal Cloud Developer to join our growing engineering team in Galway. This is a senior technical leadership role where you will play a key part in designing, developing, and delivering highly scalable cloud-based solutions while helping to shape the future direction of our technology platforms. You will work alongside architects, engineers, and business stakeholders to solve complex technical challenges and drive innovation across our cloud ecosystem. As a Principal Cloud Developer, you will be a recognised technical expert, providing leadership, mentoring colleagues, influencing architectural direction, and helping teams deliver high-quality solutions that create measurable business value.
Strong programming skills in one or more of the following: Python Java Groovy Golang JavaScript Deep expertise in software architecture, systems design, development methodologies, and platform integration. Strong understanding of cloud-native technologies and modern application development practices. Experience working with enterprise-scale distributed systems and cloud platforms. Knowledge of cloud security principles including: Identity and Access Management (IAM) Firewalls VPN technologies Network security controls Experience with web application frameworks such as: Grails Spring Boot Or equivalent technologies Strong understanding of infrastructure, networking, and cloud platform operations.
Demonstrated ability to lead technical discussions and influence engineering direction. Experience mentoring engineers and driving technical excellence within teams. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong verbal, written, presentation, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and business audiences. Comfortable working with senior leadership and influencing decisions at multiple levels of the organisation. Highly Desirable Experience working with AI-enabled development practices and tools. Proven history of innovation through delivered solutions, technical leadership, patents, or significant engineering contributions. Experience working within Agile development environments.
