Job summary

Oliver James is assisting a growing technology and transformation consultancy expanding its Irish practice by hiring a senior solution consultant to work across pre-sales and delivery.

This client-facing role defines the right solution to business problems, then remains accountable for it being delivered as designed, combining solution architecture, commercial shaping and hands‑on proofs of concept and pilots.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead technical discovery with clients to define the underlying business problem and constraints.
• Design target solutions across data platform, analytics and applied AI — including feasibility, build-versus-buy and delivery approach.
• Own the technical content of proposals, bids and client presentations.
• Scope, design and lead proofs of concept and pilots structured to produce a clear commercial decision.
• Provide architectural assurance through delivery, ensuring the solution delivered reflects the solution sold.
• Develop reusable propositions, accelerators and estimating models from engagement experience.

A growing technology and transformation consultancy is expanding its Irish practice and is seeking a senior solution consultant to work across pre-sales and delivery.

This is a client-facing role for someone who can define the right solution to a business problem and then remain accountable for it being delivered as designed. It combines solution architecture, commercial shaping and hands-on involvement in proof-of-concept and pilot work.

The client

An established consultancy with a growing Irish presence, delivering data, AI and technology transformation to enterprise and upper mid-market organisations. Current work spans financial services, manufacturing, transport and logistics, and public sector — clients moving from AI strategy into funded, governed delivery.

The practice is being built now, which means the successful candidate will have meaningful influence over propositions, delivery standards and the technical approach taken to market.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical discovery with clients, establishing the underlying business problem and the constraints that will shape any solution


• Design target solutions across data platform, architecture, analytics and applied AI — including feasibility, build-versus-buy and delivery approach


• Own the technical content of proposals, bids and client presentations


• Scope, design and lead proofs of concept and pilots structured to produce a clear commercial decision


• Provide architectural assurance through delivery, ensuring the solution delivered reflects the solution sold


• Develop reusable propositions, accelerators and estimating models from engagement experience

Requirements

• A consulting background, with experience of commercial delivery models, scope definition and accountability for work you have shaped or sold


• Substantive subject‑matter expertise in data and/or AI — data architecture and platform, analytics, MLOps, applied AI or intelligent automation. Technology‑agnostic; depth and credibility matter more than a specific stack


• Proven ability to operate with senior client stakeholders, including at executive level


• Commercial judgement — an understanding of margin, risk and deliverability as design considerations rather than downstream concerns


• The confidence to advise clients where AI is not the appropriate answer, and to evidence that position
