Job summary

Cisco Isovalent in Dublin is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to advance Linux kernel features, focusing on BPF, networking, and security, with upstream Linux kernel contributions and integration into Cilium/Tetragon.

You will lead design and development in a small, collaborative team, engage with engineering, product, and customers, and have opportunities to present at conferences such as KubeCon and Linux Plumbers, while upholding code quality and best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 2+ years of upstream Linux kernel experience.
• 5+ years of C programming experience.
• Public track record of open-source code commits.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of new Linux kernel functionality in BPF, networking, and/or security, and integrate into Cilium/Tetragon.
• Collaborate in a small technical team on forward-looking features and upstream Linux kernel work.
• Engage with engineering, product, and customers to align on technical direction with business needs.
• Opportunity to present at technical conferences (e.g., KubeCon, Linux Plumbers).
• Contribute to engineering best practices, code quality, and operational excellence.
