Job summary

Solas IT Recruitment is seeking a hands-on Principal Engineer / Technical Lead for an established Cork-based enterprise software company. You will lead the modernization of a complex platform, code daily, guide architecture, and mentor the engineering team.

This role requires 8+ years in commercial software, experience with AWS and IaC, and daily use of AI tooling such as Cursor, Cline, and Claude Code to accelerate development.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of commercial software engineering experience with a focus on modernizing production systems.
• Cloud/DevOps experience with AWS API design and Infrastructure as Code.
• Daily proficiency with AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Cline, Claude Code).

Responsibilities

Role Overview

An established enterprise software organization seeking a hands-on Principal Engineer / Technical Lead. You will lead the modernization of a complex platform, spending the majority of your time coding while guiding architectural improvements and mentoring the engineering team.

Core Responsibilities

• Modernization: Lead the transition of legacy systems to scalable, service-based architectures.
