Job summary

Mastercard is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to accelerate consulting transformation through AI and technology. You will design a scalable AI platform and drive AI productivity across the advisory organization, partnering with business, product, AI, data, and engineering leaders to enable AI-enabled opportunities.

The role involves leading architecture, orchestration layers, and reusable agent frameworks, with collaboration across enterprise AI and governance teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of full‑stack engineering in an agile environment.
• Experience leading tech strategy for a market-facing business.
• Strong understanding of GenAI, agentic workflows, and AI delivery at scale.
• Experience scaling productivity capabilities across a large team.
• Strong understanding of APIs, services, and distributed systems architecture.
• Experience building/ integrating systems using LLMs, AI services, agent frameworks, or orchestration platforms.
• Experience building and scaling platforms to improve productivity and delivery quality.
• Hands-on technologist with strong OO design and reusable components.
• Passionate about AI and emerging technologies.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Databricks, Snowflake, etc.).
• Ability to analyze and create cutting-edge technical solutions.
• Strong communication with executives and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Experience coordinating across locations with multiple vendors.
• Experience in an Agile environment.
• Strong technical judgment on build/buy/partner decisions.

Responsibilities

• Design and build a scalable, reusable AI Platform for the program.
• Drive AI enablement across the wider group.
• Lead architectural design ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
• Guide ongoing initiatives and implement solutions with stakeholders.
• Drive migration of components toward future-state architecture.
• Define strategies for future-state architecture.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver AI solutions.
• Ensure solutions align with Mastercard standards and security requirements.
• Mentor engineers and establish best practices.
• Act as architecture advisor for new business opportunities.
• Partner with teams to shape hypotheses, concepts, and business cases.
• Evaluate new ideas and trends from a technology lens.
• Support design and evolution of agentic capabilities and knowledge bases.
• Identify risks early and guide architectural decisions during incubation to scale.
