Job summary

OpenText, Ireland’s AI-focused R&D centre, seeks a Principal AI Developer to design and deliver scalable AI systems with strong emphasis on ownership of quality and performance.

The role spans end-to-end delivery across the AI stack, contributing to foundational IP in agentic AI, data sovereignty, and cybersecurity, while mentoring engineers and ensuring cost-efficient operations.

Qualifications

• 6-8 years of experience with distributed systems and cloud platforms.
• Experience with AI/ML frameworks, APIs, and production deployment.
• Experience with vector DBs, retrieval systems, or LLM frameworks.
• Strong debugging, performance tuning, and system design skills.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, AI, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Designing and building AI services, orchestration layers, and APIs.
• Leading technical design and architecture decisions.
• Ensuring systems are scalable, observable, and cost-efficient.
• Owning production readiness: monitoring, logging, incident response.
• Mentoring junior engineers and enforcing engineering standards.
• Implementing LLMOps/MLOps practices (CI/CD, versioning, evaluation).

Your Impact

We’re looking to welcome a Principal AI Developer, who will be a senior technical leader responsible for designing and delivering scalable, production-grade AI systems with strong ownership of quality and performance.

This role is central to OpenText’s AI transformation and to the growth of OpenText’s Ireland R&D capability. You’ll help build the next generation of sovereign AI for Europe and play a founding role in standing up OpenText’s EMEA Centre of Excellence for Agentic AI & Sovereign Cloud, working at the forefront of multi-agent AI orchestration in regulated environments.

You’ll own delivery end-to-end and work across the full AI stack rather than within a siloed team, giving you a direct line to enterprise-scale impact. Just as importantly, this is real ownership of foundational IP, not just services: you’ll contribute to core IP in agentic AI, data sovereignty, and cybersecurity, helping shape the technology rather than simply deploying existing tools.
