Job summary

SSE Tarbert Generation Station in Kerry is seeking a Production Technician to join the operational shift team. You will operate Tarbert Next Generation Plant and the peaking plants, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient plant performance.

We value a trade or engineering qualification in Electrical/Controls/Instrumentation, plus hands-on experience in process plants. A role offering permanent full-time status, a robust benefits package and a competitive salary.

Qualifications

• Trade or engineering qualification in Electrical, Controls, Instrumentation, Mechanical or Chemical disciplines.
• Extensive experience from within a Process, Power Generation, Pharmaceutical environment or similar.
• Capable of monitoring, adjusting, and optimising process plant systems, including pumps, valves, piping networks and heaters, with safe isolation.
• Understanding of P&IDs and SOPs, and how to monitor plant from a central control using an HMI.
• Analytical mindset capable of timely, safe decisions in response to process upsets or critical alarms.
• Experience carrying out routine daily plant inspections and reporting anomalies.

Responsibilities

• Operate Tarbert Next Generation Plant and peaking plants, ensuring EMC and Eirgrid compliance while protecting personnel and assets.
• Investigate operational issues and report defects in MAXIMO with detailed records.
• Support planned maintenance and Safe System of Work (SSoW) duties.
• Help optimise efficiency, production and controllable costs across Tarbert and peaking plants.
