Job summary

Bord Gáis Energy in Ireland invites applications for a Plumbing Apprentice. You'll learn by doing, installing, maintaining and repairing plumbing and heating systems, including heat pumps and smart controls, under the guidance of experienced engineers.

This structured programme combines workplace learning with mandatory off-the-job training to build real, practical skills from day one. Based near Cork, you’ll start with a nationally recognised apprenticeship, earn while you learn, and have the

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of five passes at Leaving Certificate level, including Mathematics.
• Must have a valid full driving licence recognised in Ireland.
• Ability to travel between customer and work locations as required.
• Genuine interest in learning plumbing and developing a long-term technical career.
• Comfortable carrying out practical work and using hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair plumbing and heating systems, including newer technologies.
• Assist engineers and gain practical workplace experience.
• Work on domestic heating systems and heat pumps under supervision.
• Learn to diagnose faults, fix issues and optimise performance for energy efficiency.
• Attend mandatory off-the-job training as part of the apprenticeship.
