Job summary

Collins McNicholas Recruitment & HR Services Group is partnering with a leading engineering client to hire a Plumber / Mechanical Fitter for a workshop-based role in Galway. You will assemble and test plumbing, pipework and mechanical systems used in modular water and wastewater treatment equipment.

Key tasks include reading technical drawings and P&IDs, pressure testing and quality checks, and supporting continuous improvement. Driving licence and eligibility to work in Ireland are required.

Qualifications

• Qualified Plumber, Mechanical Fitter or equivalent trade qualification.
• Practical experience in plumbing, pipework or mechanical assembly.
• Experience with PVC solvent-weld pipework.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Strong practical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Full clean Irish, UK or EU driving licence.
• Authorised to work in Ireland.

Responsibilities

• Install and assemble PVC, stainless-steel, compressed air, chemical dosing and electrofusion pipework.
• Assemble pumps, valves, instrumentation, fittings and associated mechanical systems.
• Fabricate and install pipe supports, brackets and Unistrut systems.
• Read and work from technical drawings, layouts and P&IDs.
• Carry out pressure testing, system checks and quality inspections.
• Identify technical and quality issues and support continuous improvement.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety and housekeeping.
• Support apprentices and junior team members where required.

We are partnering with a leading engineering and manufacturing client who are seeking to hire an experienced Plumber / Mechanical Fitter to join their manufacturing team in Galway.

This is a predominantly workshop-based role involving the assembly, installation and testing of plumbing, process pipework and mechanical systems used in modular water and wastewater treatment equipment.
