Job summary

Gravity Construction Limited in Barntown, Co. Wexford, is seeking a Plant Mechanic for immediate start. 2-3 years’ plant mechanic experience required; a formal mechanic qualification is a bonus but not essential.

On-the-job training provided. duties include maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing plant equipment to ensure safe, efficient operation and minimizing downtime. Annual remuneration €36,605.00; hourly pay €18.05; 39-hour week.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of Plant Mechanic experience required.
• Mechanic Certification preferred but not essential.
• There are no minimum academic requirements.
• On-the-job training will be provided as required.
• Essential knowledge includes mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems; reading drawings/schematics; troubleshooting and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and service machinery and equipment used in plant hire and construction.
• Ensure plant machinery operates safely and efficiently to minimize downtime and support productivity.
• Perform regular maintenance checks on plant machinery (mixers, conveyors, pumps, crushers, batching systems).
• Identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and diagnose problems accurately.
• Carry out scheduled and emergency repairs to minimize downtime.
• Maintain records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.

Our client, Gravity Construction Limited, based in Barntown, Co. Wexford, is currently seeking Plant Mechanics for immediate start at their facility in Barntown, Co. Wexford.Qualifications:2-3 years’ Plant Mechanic experience required. Mechanic Certification preferred but not essential. There are no minimum academic requirements. Further training will be provided on-the-job as required.General Duties / Responsibilities / Experience:To maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and service machinery and equipment used in plant hire, construction and related civils activitiesTo ensure that all plant machinery is operating efficiently and safely, to minimize downtime, and to support the overall productivity of the plantTo perform regular maintenance checks on plant machinery, including mixers, conveyors, pumps, crushers, and batching systems.To conduct preventative maintenance tasks to extend the life of equipment and minimize breakdowns.To lubricate machinery, replace worn parts, and ensure all components are in good working condition.To identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in plant equipment and diagnose problems accurately.To repair or replace faulty parts, ensuring that all machinery is returned to full operational capacity in a timely manner.To perform both scheduled and emergency repairs to minimize downtime.To ensure all work is conducted in compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.To maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections performed on plant equipment.Essential knowledge includes mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, as well as the ability to diagnose and fix issues promptly to ensure smooth plant operationsEssential knowledge includes strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic knowledge, ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and manuals, and excellent trouble-shooting and problem solving skillsEssential skills include application of relevant health & safety and environmental legislation, performance of system checks and adjustments on machinery, and monitoring of inventory supply for required equipmentCandidates must be competent to assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment or upgradesCandidates must be competent to monitor stock levels of spare parts, tools, and equipment needed for maintenance and order parts and supplies as neededA mechanic qualification or certificate is a bonus but is not mandatory2-3 years’ of proven relevant experience as a Plant Mechanic is required.Annual Remuneration: €36,605.00; Pay Rate €18.05 per hourWork Location: Gravity Construction Limited, Barntown, Co.
