Job summary

Veolia Ireland is seeking a Plant Manager to lead wastewater treatment plants and pumping stations in the Wicklow region. The role covers day-to-day site management, safety, and client liaison.

You will manage a team of technicians, optimise maintenance programmes, and ensure uptime while controlling costs. This is a permanent, full-time position based on-site in Wicklow.

Qualifications

• Senior mechanical or electrical tradesperson with people management experience or an engineering background with operations and maintenance exposure.
• Operational experience on a water treatment site is desirable.
• Experience leading water/wastewater sites and large treatment plants is desirable.
• Ability to manage time and resources to meet timelines within budget.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day site operations and coordinate a team of technicians.
• Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for plant equipment faults.
• Plan and supervise preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance with PM deadlines.
• Maintain CMMS data, develop PMs, and SOPs for plant equipment.
• Review and optimise maintenance programmes for uptime and cost control.
• Ensure safety compliance and manage subcontractors and client meetings.

Plant Manager

Location: Wicklow (Greystones, Knockrobin, The Murrough PS, Rathnew PS, Ashford PS, Rathdrum WWTP)

Contract Type: Permanent

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.30pm

The successful candidate will manage WasteWater treatment plants and pumping stations in the Wicklow region.

Veolia Operates and Maintains these sites on behalf of Uisce Eireann, and require a strong site lead to oversee the day to day elements of the site management.

Day to day of the role:

Responsible for all aspects of the contract deliverable to the Client including but limited to:

• Coordinate the day to day management of a team of technicians on-site
• Trouble-shooting and high-level investigation of utility plant equipment faults and failures - root cause analysis
• Carry out planned preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance as required Ensure PMs are completed on time
• Good knowledge and understanding of CMMS systems
• Develop PMs and Job Plans as well as SOPs for plant equipment.
• Review maintenance programme periodically to ensure optimal uptime levels are achieved
• Support and comply with all safety procedures
• Organise and manage subcontractors
• Compile monthly site reporting
• Attend liaison meetings with client
• Actively lead and promote a culture of Safety, Quality, Compliance, and Continuous Improvement in conjunction with QHSE team
• Maximize the performance of the site through development and implementation of cost control and site optimisation programmes
• Implementation of contract variations from the employer

Required skills for this role:

• Senior mechanical/electrical tradesperson with people management experience or Engineering background with operations and maintenance experience (maintenance manager etc.)
• Operational experience on a water treatment site (Desirable)
• Management experience on a water/wastewater site (Desirable)
• Previous experience on a large operational water/wastewater treatment plant (Desirable)
• Effectively manage time and resources to deliver on operational timelines within budget constraints (Essential)
• Good communication skills, and people management skills
• Desirable: Self-motivated individual with high achievement prospects
