Donnelly Civil Engineering Ltd (DCEL) in Ireland is seeking a Plant Manager to oversee the fleet, ensure availability for projects and drive safe, efficient operation across the Water, Transport, Energy, Infrastructure and Marine sectors.

You will manage deployment, maintenance, budgets, procurement, and lead a team of operators and technicians, while ensuring compliance with local safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Equipment Oversight: Manage deployment, use, and movement of all heavy machinery and vehicles.
• Maintenance & Repairs: Schedule servicing, inspections, and emergency repairs to minimize downtime.
• Budget & Procurement: Create budgets, track expenses, and negotiate equipment hire or purchase contracts.
• Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and site policies.
• Logistics & Transport: Coordinate delivery, setup, and removal of plant assets between sites.
• Team Leadership: Supervise plant operators, mechanics, and admin staff, including training.

Job description

Donnelly Civil Engineering Ltd (DCEL) are a Civil Engineering Contractor operating throughout Ireland, delivering a broad range of projects in the Water, Transport, Energy, Infrastructure and Marine sector.

The Plant Manager will be responsible for the effective management, maintenance, utilisation, and compliance of the company's fleet of plant, machinery, vehicles, and equipment. The successful candidate will ensure that plant resources are available to support project delivery on a daily and weekly basis.

Key Responsibilities

• Equipment Oversight: Manage the deployment, use, and movement of all heavy machinery and vehicles.
• Maintenance & Repairs: Schedule and oversee regular servicing, routine inspections, and emergency repairs to minimize downtime.
• Budget & Procurement: Create operational budgets, track expenses, and negotiate equipment hire or purchase contracts with external suppliers.
• Health and Safety: Ensure all machinery and operators comply with local safety regulations, environmental standards, and site policies.
• Logistics & Transport: Coordinate the safe delivery, setup, and removal of plant assets between different project sites.
• Team Leadership: Supervise plant operators, mechanics, and administrative staff, including scheduling and safety training.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Experience: Several years working with heavy construction machinery, fleet logistics, or mechanical maintenance.
• Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of heavy plant operations, diagnostic processes, and machinery capabilities.
• Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of occupational health and safety acts and environmental compliance.
• Administrative Skills: Proficiency in asset management software, budgeting, and contract negotiation
