Job summary

FRS Recruitment is seeking a Plant Fitter / Heavy Plant Mechanic for a workshop-based role in Co. Laois, Ireland. You will focus on mechanical assembly, fitting and commissioning of heavy plant with a strong emphasis on hydraulic systems.

Experience in plant, agricultural, quarry, construction or heavy engineering backgrounds is desirable. Full training will be provided on company-specific equipment and systems.

Qualifications

• Experience as Plant Fitter or similar (Plant/Heavy Equipment).
• Strong hands-on mechanical fitting and maintenance experience.
• Good practical knowledge of hydraulic systems.

Our client, a leading manufacturer of heavy equipment, is seeking an experienced Plant Fitter / Heavy Plant Mechanic to join their team in Co. Laois.

This is a full-time, workshop-based role focused on the mechanical assembly, fitting and commissioning of heavy plant and equipment, with a strong emphasis on hydraulic systems.

The role would suit candidates from plant, agricultural, quarry, construction or heavy engineering backgrounds who have strong hands-on mechanical and hydraulic experience. Full training will be provided on company-specific equipment and systems.

What You Will Do

• Carry out mechanical fitting and assembly of heavy plant and equipment
• Install and connect hydraulic systems, components and pipework
• Read and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics
• Carry out hydraulic plumbing and system installation
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
• Assist with the testing and commissioning of completed equipment
• Operate overhead cranes, forklifts and hand tools
• Ensure all work meets required Health & Safety and quality standards
• Work independently and as part of a skilled production team

What We Are Looking For

• Experience as a Plant Fitter, Plant Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Mechanical Fitter, Hydraulic Fitter, Agri Mechanic or similar
• Strong hands-on mechanical fitting and maintenance experience
• Good practical knowledge of hydraulic systems
• Experience working with heavy plant or machineryAbility to read and interpret technical drawings, hydraulic and electrical schematics
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Good attention to detail and a strong work ethic
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
